I'm getting rid of the cursed Chevy, but uh before Mia is allowed to drive my car. We have to exercise me. Um there's gotta be something. She's got this car curse going where every single car that she drives has some sort of an existential fucking crisis. We haven't figured it out yet. My beautiful Mercedes had an emotional breakdown and a broke down.

SPEAKER_02The Somber Lane.
SPEAKER_00The Somber Lane. The Somber Lane is the debut album of the Swedish melodic black metal band Bisection. This was released on the 3 of December. The 3rd of December, 1993. Uh, this particular particular CD that I'm holding in my hand is a 2020 and four pressing from uh Black Lodge. Sound pollution distribution, Stockholm, Sweden. We found this at the record store. In Wichita. In Wichita. Do you remember the name of it?
SPEAKER_02Um The Record Ship.
SPEAKER_00The Records Ship, yes. This is actually a really good find.
SPEAKER_02They had a really I fucking love the record ship.
SPEAKER_00I actually had a pretty impressive metal selection.
SPEAKER_02Oh god, I love Wichita. I want to go back.

SPEAKER_00I know. Uh let's see. Additional notes about the Somber Lane is that this is primarily one of the pioneering albums of the sub-genre, of the sub genre, melodic black metal. Just very much inspired by traditional heavy metal and uh obviously the Truno region black metal that's coming out at the time. Uh this is actually, I mean, calling back to the first episode, is that uh this album is a dedicated to Euronymous from Mayhem.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which I think is really, really nice because a lot of people don't realize this is that um dissection were part of the inner circle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Despite circle.
SPEAKER_00The black circle, despite them being uh Swedish band. Which I think is really, really nice. And today's um main topic has to be, or one of the main topics, it has to be uh the singer of the band, former singer of the band known as Jon Notve. You know, let's talk about a little bit about dissection first. Dissection, they call themselves the Anti-Cosmic Medal of Death. Formed in Strun Strunstad, Sweden, 1989, lasted until 1997, following the arrest of founding member Jon Notveit.

SPEAKER_01Okay, so best way to explain it is in um it's basically like the cycle of the planets, it's the calendar, the astrological calendar. So um, today's a huge day for manifestations. But anybody out there manifesting today, just make sure that if you're doing your manifestations that uh whatever you're doing to clear out old energy before you go try to manifest and attract new energy, make sure that you get rid of the stagnant energy.
SPEAKER_02So, should we do my car exorcism today?
SPEAKER_01Yes. So I that's why I went and I grabbed my book. So basically it peaks today. It's the time to get those uh, you know, this like abundance, if you want abundance spells and stuff like that, that now's the time to do that. So one of the things that you do is like you meditate for eight minutes focusing on like different things that you want to do. Um triple eight is the sip is the angel number for abundance.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so, you know, you you put uh triple eight on your receiving wrist, you know, on the inside of your receiving wrist. Um, you know, just anyway, so I woke up this morning and I jumped up and I swept all of the old out from the back of the house to the front of the house, you know, and I made sure to discard it out the front door. Um so that way I'm you know cleansing the way for new energy to come. But anyway, so you I I'll explain it better, but yeah, go ahead and do your thing. I'll tell you more when when we're done.

SPEAKER_00You and my aunt would really get along. She believes in everything like this.
SPEAKER_01It's it's a major like I want to explain it right. It's just one of the things that like I've really focused on like in the last few years is like my spirituality and being more connected to the earth and you know. Yeah. So but um so those big those big cycles, those big lunar cycles and stuff, anything that holds like a lot of meaning, I really try to get my intentions out there.

SPEAKER_00We're gonna do I did a little bit about the album of the day, but I'm gonna go in with a little bit of about the band. So the band is dissection, anti-cosmic metal of death. That was kind of like their title. This is a good song.
SPEAKER_02This whole album's good.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. Formed in Strunsad, Sweden in 1988, 1989, excuse me, and lasted until 1990 Fuck you. Lasted in 1997, following the arrest of founding member Jon Nunvight. Yeah, Dissection came back in 2004, but lasted until 2006, and it was a completely like what, like um the rebirth of dissection. It was a really big deal. Uh the genre of dissection are predominantly melodic black metal, yet during the um rebirth and the rebirth of dissection and following their last album, Rinkhaus, they move to a more like melodic death metal type style. Dissection's first two demos, The Grief Propercy and Into Infinite Obscurity, were pure death metal, following along the signs of like other Swedish death metal bands: Entombed, Grave, My Favorite Unleashed, Morbid, you know, and everything like that. Uh Dissection's lyrical themes are all are based off of the occult, very occultic, and they also have some Gnosticism and Satanism and obviously death. But what separates Dissection from their neighboring death metal uh brothers is that they always had a twinge of like melancholy in their music. So they've always sounded sad and and depressed. Grief was a big thing and um was a big uh lyrical theme for them too. Like this song, this song right now, which happens to be the title track of The Somber Lane, it's about a man killing himself and going to hell, essentially.

SPEAKER_00Very uh Yeah. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Carry Me Through the Gates and such like that. Um Dissects were influenced by several different metal bands, such as Celtic Frost, Morbid Angel, Battery Possessed Iron Maiden, while they also have some other non-metal influences like uh Fields of Nep Fields of the Nephilim.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which I think is really, really cool.

SPEAKER_02Oh well, yes, that's what the episode's about.
SPEAKER_00True. Alright. Who is Yon Notvite? Yon Notvai was born on the 28th of June 1975 in City 29th of June. 28th.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay, okay. Sorry. Because Maddie's birthday is the 29th of June, so no kidding. What? Okay, sorry, so that would have been so cool.
SPEAKER_00He was born in Katrianholm, Sundr Sundarmanland, Sweden. Other than Dissection, Jonas played in several different bands, such as Satanized, Terror, the Black, and he was a uh a session on on Niflheim's debut as a uh guitarist.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Do you listen to Niflheim?
SPEAKER_02Not much.
SPEAKER_00You shit so good. I love him. In 1995, he joined the Misanthropic Luciferian Order. I think that would be a really good segue into this. So what is the Misanthropic Luciferian Order? It's a um it started as like a faction of Tonies, Sorkas, true Satanist horde. So it's kind of like a cult.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Kind of. Found in Sweden in 1995. They believe in something called Chaosophy. Or Chaos Gnostic Satanism.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_00So so what I wasn't unable I was unable to do the um I was unable to figure out what exactly they believe in. I mean the copy of the main grim war that they take their beliefs from, it's all in Swedish, and I couldn't find any English copies. Really? So I thought that would have been a good place to get some research done, but um but what I was able to decipher is that they do believe in the existence of the Abrahamic God and the story of Adam and Eve, which is taken from Sumerian lore, believe it or not.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But they reject reject God and wish to destroy the destroy creation through rituals, magic, shit like that. So they believe like Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe like they think chaos is the highest form of like I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Divinity.
SPEAKER_00Divinity, something like that. There's like a I think you would understand it if like I was able to find the chart. I don't really understand it. Um obviously like Misanthropy is also a really big thing that goes on in that in black metal in general, yes. So um it's very much when you read the stories or the beliefs about the misanthropic Luciferian order, it's really influential to Jon's lyrics, especially on Ryan Kowos. It's really it's very chaos-oriented. Militant neo-Gnosticism is also taught there. This was semi-influenced by like the Order of the Nine of Nine Angles, which I'm I'm assuming you guys know what I'm talking about. Nazis, yeah. Yeah, like the Nazi Satanists.
SPEAKER_01Losers.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, dorks. The um the order only had three members, being Vlaan Chusnod, Johan Norman, and obviously Yon Not by it. So to say it was like an order, it's really just three dudes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I found the um so it's like it's basically like it's talking about um the premier. Primordial? Is it I'm gonna say primordial, yes. Primordial, unordered state of the universe before the divine intervention or creation. Um, so it's a male world religions and mythologies chart this concept by positioning chaos either as a raw, formless womb or creation, a destructive cosmic enemy or a sacred principle of own right. So basically, um, you know, they say that chaos was a vast empty void, uh, so first elemental god, like Gaia and Eros, and they say, um I mean basically they thought that um creation and cosmic dissolution are bound in a continuous cycle, which I could see that. I can't see it. Kind of like or boros and then it like I can get in, I can get behind that. It's like the song that never ends, it just goes on and on. My friend someone starts singing it, you know. Yeah. Not knowing what it was. Kind of like the whole they'll continue singing it forever just because it's the song that doesn't end up. Oh, that don't start. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Ouroboros and everything it sounds like. Kind of also kind of reminds me of nihilism. Just a little teeny tiny bit of how the universe is completely incomprehensible. You know, just a little teeny tiny bit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, just it's like everything comes full circle is what I'm saying. I can actually get behind that.
SPEAKER_00It's a really cool from what the research I did, it's it's a really cool belief system.
SPEAKER_01I mean it's kind of what I believe. It's really interesting, it's almost like the karmatic circle. Yeah, you know what I mean? So, like whatever you put out that you're gonna get back, you know, because it's gonna come back around and get to. I mean, I I kind of believe that too. So I can believe it. Yeah, you know what? I can't believe it. John Nodby was a very smart guy. He really was.

SPEAKER_02I don't know. Because I don't know if the guy I got into a fight with was there.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah. Um, see black metal unfortunately attracts a lot of, you know, Nazis. I think it comes f more from like maybe like a misanthropic, less like a background.
SPEAKER_02Maybe I think it started out as like they were like, well, we can criticize other Abrahamic religions, not what why not Judaism and how Hitler was responsible for like a genocide and all that, and it was anti-life, and it was pro-eugenics and all that. And like, if you're so anti-life, why are you pro-eugenics?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02Eugenics is the preservation and like improving, like intended to improve the quality of life of people.
SPEAKER_00Precisely.
SPEAKER_02And it's like the thing like if you if you believe in eugenics so strongly, you're not anti-life. You're pro-life.

SPEAKER_01So what I'm gathering, this is just this is kind of my thoughts on it, because I don't know a lot about like they believe in killing the lessers in the in eugenics. Oh, yeah, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_01So, but this is this is what I'm gathering about like the black metal and the you know the the Nazis and stuff. So, you know how like you got those look-at-me, look-at-me girls. Yeah, the pick me girls. Yeah. The pick me girls. So I think that those guys are like the pick me girls of black metal. They are all so does that make fence? I'm fence sense. I don't think it does make offense.

SPEAKER_01But the thing is, it's like they're like, I'm going to be so obnoxious and I'm gonna do this.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna be so anti-life that it's pro-life.

SPEAKER_01Because we're allowed to be loud and crazy and wild and cut loose here. And so they're like, look at me, look at me, I'm a piece of shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, pretty much. It's like it's kind of a dick measuring contest on how fucked up you can be. That's actually we'll get into that later because there's um there is something that comes from that, but you're right. You're right, you're completely right. SPEAKER_00Since we're on this topic, I would like to just add, like, I don't really understand the because there is kind of like an umbrella term for these things, it's called national socialist black metal. N SBM, yeah. N SBM. But what I don't understand is like when you a lot of these musicians, goat moon or whatever have you, they do have like racist and like probably fascist like beliefs. But what I don't understand is that like black metal is supposed to be anti-society.
SPEAKER_02And why are you nationalists?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like anti-society, anti-religion. So why are you trying to put a dictatorship into power of which will snuff out your fucking culture?

I don't, I don't I, you know, when I was really like when I was a blind faith Catholic, you know, blind faith Christian, you know, um, I was like, I'm a Catholic, I'm a Christian, you know. But now it's like I don't I don't I'm not I'm not gonna label myself as a Christian, you know. I'm a great personal relationship with my Lord and Savior, uh Jesus Christ, but but I'm not a Christian.
SPEAKER_02You also don't try to shove it down people's things.

I don't now before I started to really study a lot of this stuff, and I because I studied a lot of theology, that was actually one of the things that I was majoring in in college was theological studies, because I wanted to be a theologian. Um, but um I ended up changing it to education because then I started studying more about this stuff, and I was like, oh my god, you know, there's so much I didn't know.

SPEAKER_01And now I I mean, any chance I get to read about these things, I'm like reading about. Yeah, locked in completely. So then I was like, you know what? I think that it's best that I maybe I should just be looking itself. Yeah, that's it's you know, it it comes down to the organized religious. Now it's not for everybody, you know. I love the Catholic faith because the sacraments are like stepping stones to keep us on the right path.
SPEAKER_02I also think it's really pretty.
SPEAKER_01It's a beautiful faith. It is, it is. But, you know, with the Christian and the bloody history. Yeah, there's so much. Like St. Martin, oh my god.
SPEAKER_00Or St. Patrick.
SPEAKER_02How baptism is considered drowning a pagan.

SPEAKER_01It's it's honestly there's so much to it that people don't realize because they just were never taught or they never thought to look behind it or research it. Or they didn't give a fuck. Well, I mean, it's just like I'm willfully arrogant. Yeah, well, I mean it's ignorant. The I stuck with it because that's what I was raised with.

SPEAKER_01Yeah, and so as a result, that's what I was forcing on my children too. And now I'm like, you know, it's still a beautiful religion, but I do want my children to be informed in their faith. I don't want to be the one that forces it.
SPEAKER_02I felt really bad when I started to stray from the Catholic religion and the and the Christian religion. Because I started to stray when I was like seven.

So something that a lot of people don't really seem to talk about is that um there are several several different murders within the uh within the black metal uh movement in the 90s. Most famously uh the murder of the The Murmur. The murmur of murmur. The murderer fuck Take your time.

SPEAKER_00And the dude who decapitated his girlfriend. But that was like modern. That's like 2008. But okay. Yosef Ben Madur was murdered on the 23rd of July 1997. His body was discovered on the w by a water tower around uh 4 30 p.m. Joseph was killed by uh uh shooting. One bullet in his back and the final in his head.

SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, because you know what? Because homophobia is extremely prevalent in black metal, which is so weird because like Corthon is the biggest star, and so is Gaul from Gorgoroth, who's openly gay, by the way.

SPEAKER_00It's so funny because people are walking they did say that it was a hate crime.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes, but I believe it. But also like if it's black metal, it's a hate crime.
SPEAKER_00The reason why the boyfriend was uh suspected because he had an opposition to the GIA, which is like some Islamic I forgot it. It was definitely has something to do with like Islam, which I don't know if it was a like a like a government or a dictatorship. Yeah, but the boyfriend opposed up opposed Take your time, sweetie.

SPEAKER_00Like he had he came out with like this new look, he shaved his head, and everything like that. Um and they only wore like what leather vests and t-shirts on stage. So completely like the rebirth of dissection. He would do interviews at this time too, which there was a really cool interview on YouTube. He was very he was a very intelligent and well-spoken man. Um but in 2026, Yon not like killed himself.

The reason they're quote unquote relevant at all is considering their music as NS slop is because of their horrid murder of a fifteen-year-old boy named Sandro Bayer on April 29th, 1993. Bayer would hang around the b the band despite them not liking him openly, and the reason stated for the murder was Bayer allegedly threatening to expose an affair a men a member was having with a teacher at their school, and a member's girlfriend tricked Bayer into following her through the woods to quote unquote put a stop to them. She arranged a meeting at a certain point in the nearby forest at 8 p.m. to resolve certain issues, and she led him further into the woods. It was a setup. It's rumored that Bayer was tortured, but anyways, the the band met him at an abandoned shed, strangling him with electrical wire, killing him within minutes. Jesus. Fifteen year old, mind you.
