Hi!
SPEAKER_00Hey! Okay, welcome back, guys. Um, to spectral homicide.
SPEAKER_01Spectral.
SPEAKER_00I'm Vera.
SPEAKER_01I'm Mia.
SPEAKER_00Um, and we are Spectral Homicide. Yeah, we're gonna say it again because we'll fucking right. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So did okay, oh what? Spectral! It's okay, okay, okay. Alright, ready, let's go. Okay. Three, two, one. Spectral homicide. Jesus.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Album of the day. I want to start doing this because I have a big ass music collection. I want to show it up. It's playing right now. Don't copyright strike me. I bought the CD. I own it. Okay. Mine.
SPEAKER_00And we don't make any money off of this. We don't. So we're claiming fair use. Yeah, we're claiming fair use, thank you. So fair use. I hope. Please don't find us. We're already poor.
SPEAKER_01They're pretty, they're pretty, they're pretty chill. Uh, who's weak?
SPEAKER_00Me.
SPEAKER_01Um, they're they're pretty chill. I don't think they would. But um the album of the day is Electric Wizard by Electric Wizard. This is their first studio full-length album, first released in 1994. My sources are Encyclopedia Metallum. Um, the band the band originally formed as Morbicus in 1988 in the UK. Bourne Mouth Dorset. I don't know what the hell to call the stuff in the UK. So I'm just reading what I wrote down. They changed their name to Putrefaction in 1989, the Lord of Putrefaction. Then in 1991, they changed to Diabrie Faternal, and 1992 to Eternal, and then in 1993, the official the band officially formed as Electric Wizard for in Somerset, England, from the two Black Sabbath songs, Electric Wizard, which is one of my favorites, and The Wizard. I hope I'm talking loud enough because I cannot control my volume. Um they are a Stoner Doom metal band with four current members, which is Juss Osborne, Liz Buckingham, Simon Poole, and Haz Wheaton. They are best known for their album Dope Throne, which was released in 2000. They are still active today. Okay, now we start with Stohl.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so our episode today is going to be about um our investigation that we did in Stoll, Kansas. Um we did a lot of research on it. Our resources for this episode are um United States Ghost Towns.com, uh Devilish Urban Legends.com, the Kansas City Star.com, uh two scariest destinations.com, and findagrave.com. Oh, and also AmericanHauntings.com. So um I gotta say something real quick. We were just talking about this. So uh I was thinking about like like my favorite word lately is twat. Okay, it's twat. It's twat, twat twat twat twat twat. Okay, so not to be confused with tweet.
SPEAKER_01I'm so glad we don't make money off of this because we would have been demonetized so fast.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, you know, these things do happen. Um you can't take what I don't have, na na na na. So, anyways, um I was telling her, I was like, I really respect people that like commit to the bit, you know. They don't half ass, they use their whole ass on stuff. And so there's a certain level of respect that you have to have for somebody who's just a whole ass twat. So um I've been seeing a lot of those lately.
SPEAKER_01Oh, me too. Yeah, so I wish they were more straightforward about it though. I like the ones that are straightforward and don't like it.
SPEAKER_00Well, those are the ones I respect. That's how I said, of course. Because look, some people okay, some people think I'm amazing, some people think I'm a bitch, and I'm gonna tell you all of them right, because the version of me that you get depends on you, honey. So I'm an amazing bitch. I'm an amazing bitch. Okay, so we're gonna I'm gonna go with this. Uh I'm gonna tell you, there's a small town in Kansas with a legend so chilling that it is traveled. People have traveled it for like half a century. They say nearly half a century. Honestly, it's been longer. So um, it's one of the seven gateways to hell.
SPEAKER_01Rumored to be.
SPEAKER_00Rumored to be. Um, so personally, I think it is. I got it.
SPEAKER_01But we'll get to that later.
SPEAKER_00We will. So we're gonna talk about some of the history, myths, um, we're gonna talk about the paranormal claims and pop culture influences. Um, so go for it.
SPEAKER_01Uh Stoll Cemetery is located in Stoll, Kansas, a small town west of Lawrence in Douglas County with a population of around 8,300. It was founded in 1857 by Pennsylvania Dutch settlers, and it was originally known as Deer Creek, and it was later renamed after Sylvester Stoll, the only postmaster in town.
SPEAKER_00He was the only one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's why they named it after him.
SPEAKER_00Wow. So, like, look at that, huh? He was a shoein'. I I didn't get that far on mine.
SPEAKER_01I didn't even I I don't even know what that is. I'm gonna be so for real.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Okay, I think he's in charge of the post office. Listen, if you know what a postmaster is, that's one thing I didn't look up. I was like, wow, he must be just really good at delivering letters. Yeah, like or like Instagram, I think. The master of posting. Well, whatever. Anyways, I did not I had no idea he was the only one. I just found out that they named the town after him because his family was like super affluent.
SPEAKER_01Dad's a manager of a post office.
SPEAKER_00It's oh, it's a manager of a post office? Thank you.
SPEAKER_01We have another source in the corner, but he's a minor, so we're not showing his face.
SPEAKER_00No, you can't see them.
SPEAKER_01Nope, not allowed.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no. Okay, alright, so keep going. Sorry. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Let's let's stay on, let's stay on this. So wait, they settled in what? What year was it? 1857. Okay, and then they built the church like three years later, um, in 1860. So I thought that, and this is actually because I was wrong, we were talking about it, and I told you that Pennsylvania Dutch were the same people from the Salem witch trials, but actually they weren't. They weren't. You weren't you knew that. Okay, alright. Well, I here I am on the card.
SPEAKER_01I was like, what the fuck are you talking about when you told me that? But I mean you did you did your research, so well, you know, um, but they weren't.
SPEAKER_00So now we know. Um, they were just equally ignorant, that's all. Oh, no. Not all of them. Just some. Sorry. Your turn. Huh? What? Okay, so do you want to go into like what do you want to go? Keep going, because I interrupted you. Sorry about that.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, you're good. I finished.
SPEAKER_00Oh, so anyways, um the church gradually like started to fall into ruin. Uh first, like, the roof caved in. And um, they've actually built this church twice, although I couldn't find any details about when they rebuilt it, um, or when it first, like, but that was I don't know. I wasn't there. I I wasn't either. Um, so we did visit it, but you know, it looks way different. Anyways, yeah. But they do say, and actually, every single person that we talked to and every single piece of history and investigation that we did all said that like rain just n never fell inside that building, even with the roof gone. Yeah, which I was like, it's like whatever. Okay, and I'm reading about this, I'm like, no, and I actually found that out before we went there. That literally does not happen. Yeah, I was like, physics, duh. Things fall down, they land.
SPEAKER_01I th mom, we're paranormal investigators. We do not have time for physics.
SPEAKER_00No, we don't, but we do investigate it to make sure that we know what the hell we're talking about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Because I I knew I know I know my shit with my physics. I did I may have gotten a C in my physics class, but in my defense, that was not my fault.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That class sucked.
SPEAKER_00Physics is physics is kind of dry, not gonna lie. I don't know why I enjoyed it so much.
SPEAKER_01Just like the floor in the church.
SPEAKER_00Just like the floor! But uh bum. Okay, so um they so the church gradually started to just crumble. And at one point it was hit by lightning, and so it like one of the walls had like this huge like crack in it, and then um, say crack again.
unknownCrack.
SPEAKER_00So, anyway, so like that had like this huge crack in it, and then there was like this tree in the cemetery that people was said that it was the the hanging tree for witches, right?
SPEAKER_01I think I got a picture of that one. I think that was that really pretty tree that I took a picture of.
SPEAKER_00Or they cut it down. They did actually, they did cut it down.
SPEAKER_01Any tree is a hanging tree if you're brave enough.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You said that too!
SPEAKER_00I said anything's a dildo if you're brave enough. Oh, you said. Did I say the thing about the tree?
SPEAKER_01I agree with me yesterday.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I won't argue with you there, but okay, that is okay. I might Oh trigger warning. Well, sorry. Um, but we have no triggers here.
SPEAKER_01Um shit, we should we should probably do like trigger warnings. Oh, uh if our audience is gonna grow, we should probably do trigger warnings.
SPEAKER_00Trigger warning, we're probably gonna say something that's gonna be.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to get canceled.
SPEAKER_00Okay, and I'm gonna say sorry that you feel that way. You cannot say that! I'm apologizing for them feeling that way.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well you almost have to do a chart belly. You must shot that out of your nose.
SPEAKER_00Okay, you can't see it. Okay, this will be on our YouTube channel, but like it's she literally she was taking a drink out. If you could heard it, I mean it's so there's like, oh, it sounded like like she was literally trying not to. So, but there was this tree there, right? And if they said it was the hanging tree, they used every you know, people said that they would hang witches from this tree, right? Oddly enough, um, it's the very same tree that ended up growing um like it's split a frickin' uh headstone. That one! Yeah!
SPEAKER_01Yes, I thought it is that tree, didn't it? It is that tree? Yeah, it was right fucking next to it.
SPEAKER_00Well, some of it, you know, there's actually more than one tree there.
SPEAKER_01So there's not more than one tree in Kansas, though.
SPEAKER_00I mean, there's at least three.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah. So at least one, we know that now.
SPEAKER_00Well, okay, so I think maybe we might be talking about two different trees. So either way, I do know, I don't know. Fuck, I really should have looked into that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, girl, you should have. Man, wow Wow, look at you. Oh, why'd you wow when my wowed? Stop trying to be me. You this bitch 3D prints her kids as a copy and paste model of herself.
SPEAKER_00And she says, Stop trying to be me. Dude, like, seriously, like, it's your own face. Stop. Sam over there just choked on his soda.
SPEAKER_01So um okay.
SPEAKER_00All right, so um, so they say that uh that it's one of seven gateways to help. There's like a lot of rumors about this place, right?
SPEAKER_01Like there's like a mouth to help. Is it a mouth to hell? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I mean there's something at the There's probably like a if it's a mouth, then there's definitely like a throat or something. The throat goes, the throat goes. The deep throat gate. They tried to deep throat me! Oh my god. So we'll get to that later. Yeah, we'll get there later. I'm telling you right now, we went and investigated this thing.
SPEAKER_01First of all, we were there for a photo shoot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. She was there to investigate. I was there for a photo shoot. I was there to investigate. I brought all the shit.
SPEAKER_01And let me tell you I brought a change of shoes and a sword.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And my fine ass.
SPEAKER_00But it was cool. Okay, so I I did not know that you were not allowed to like poke around in there. I didn't poke or dig anything up. I'm just saying for the record, for the record, I did not know that she, you know, they frown on people going in there um until afterwards. Uh well, actually, after we drove like a significant amount of time, and I'm not gonna say how much because I don't want everybody knowing where we are. Obviously, we're in Kansas, but Kansas is a very big place. I'm just gonna tell you right now that when you are driving an electric fucking car, um oh my god, what a fucking pain in the ass to drive like anywhere more than 20 minutes because if it's cold, the car's like, I'm cold, I just wanna die. And I'm like, okay, yeah, me too, bro. But like, can we please make sure we fucking get there? Um it was like a whole thing, dude. Like, we had to charge that thing, and I was like, this is really weird. So it's by the way, I don't own an electric car, it's a loner because my car was just going through some sort of existential fucking crisis.
SPEAKER_01Crutch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's a brand new car. Like, what the ever fucking yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Take your time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Okay, so, anyways, um, so they said that there is that Satan appears there twice a year on Halloween and during the spring equinox. Um, apparently through some hidden staircase that just magically fucking appears in the church basement. Now, I gotta tell you, if there was a basement there before, it's probably the first floor now because yeah, this place, I mean, you it doesn't even look like a building. Honestly, there's bricks. It's just yeah, and like some of them are stacked, but not like a lot.
SPEAKER_01Where where the hell mouth was was the first location of the church, and then they rebuilt it a second time and that big ass uh fucking uh square.
SPEAKER_00No, that square's the mausoleum.
SPEAKER_01What in the hell is a mausoleum?
SPEAKER_00A mausoleum is like a room full of like dead people. Oh, it's yeah, that you can walk in. I mean, they're not like out there hanging out. Oh yeah, it's it's basically like it's like a building that you can go inside, like a building cemetery.
SPEAKER_01So it's a pyramid.
